Switzerland Destination Wedding | Eric + Kate

Eric and Kate’s destination wedding in Interlaken, Switzerland was an absolute dream to say the least. It was truly such a joy to be able to capture their wedding day- especially because my husband was a groomsman in the wedding. It was so fun for the both of us to be a part of the wedding, him in the wedding party and me behind the camera to document the special day!

Fun Fact

I actually met Eric in middle school!!! Crazy right?! Since then we have all been lifelong friends. The bond we share along with the beautiful memories created on this unforgettable day, made Eric and Kate’s wedding a cherished memory for us all.

The Adventure

The whole adventure started with a trip to Europe to visit my best friend in Amsterdam! From Amsterdam we took a flight to Zurich and then a train to Interlaken. We decided to make a little vacation out of it and my best friend joined us and traveled to Switzerland together for the destination wedding. She even helped me film behind the scenes for the wedding.

I LOVE traveling and immersing myself in new cultures and experiences. Each trip I take is a chance to learn something new, try new foods, meet new people, and create lasting memories with my family. I always find something amazing in every destination I visit. The thrill of exploring uncharted territory and stepping out of my comfort zone is something that truly excites me and probably forever will!

It was so much fun to explore both Amsterdam and Interlaken. We did a TON of biking (if you’ve visited Amsterdam before, you know what I mean), a lot of trying delicious foods, and even jumped in the frigid Lake Brienz. It was so cold but also refreshing. My first cold plunge ever!

The Pros of Having a Destination Wedding

Having a destination wedding means you get to say “I do” in a completely unique and stunning location. Whether it’s a tropical beach, a mountain, somewhere in Europe, or a city, you can choose a destination that truly speaks to you and your partner’s personalities.

One of the biggest pros of a destination wedding is that it allows you to have a more intimate celebration with your closest family and friends. Since not everyone will be able to make the journey to your destination, you can guarantee that those who do attend will be the most important people in your life. It creates a more personalized and meaningful experience for everyone involved!

You also get to have a mini-vacation with your loved ones. Instead of a traditional one-day celebration, you can extend the festivities into a weekend or week-long affair, giving you more quality time to spend with your guests. You can plan pre-wedding activities like group excursions, welcome parties, and rehearsal dinners, creating unforgettable memories for all. This is something Eric and Kate did well but I’ll get into that soon!

Let’s not forget about the amazing photo opportunities that come with a destination wedding. Your wedding album will be filled with breathtaking backdrops and scenic views that will make your special day even more amazing.

If you’re a couple who loves to travel, loves adventure, and might want a wedding that reflects your unique style and love story, a destination wedding might just be the perfect choice for you! It’s a chance to create a one-of-a-kind celebration in a stunning setting, surrounded by your absolute closest friends and family.

The Ceremony

One of the most exciting aspects of the wedding was the uncertainty around the ceremony spot. We were told that there might be a hike depending on the weather, and everyone was a bit on edge wondering what to expect. When we all arrived at the ceremony location, it was the most INCREDIBLE thing! The mountains in the background, the open landscape, and the setup were absolutely breathtaking. It was a truly unforgettable moment for everyone there especially due to how easy it was getting there. The ceremony was intimate and sweet, with Eric and Kate exchanging vows they had written themselves. There wasn’t a dry eye on that mountain-top!

Going back a little bit into what I was talking about before, what made the wedding even more special was how Eric and Kate had turned it into a mini-vacation for all their friends. Throughout the trip, there were a ton of activities planned for everyone to enjoy together. From seeing the local sights to trying out new activities, it was a fantastic way for everyone to bond and create memories. Each guest loved it and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone.

The Reception

The reception at the Carlton Vintage Europe Hotel was the perfecttt way to end the wedding day. The hotel provided the perfect space for the party and it was a night filled with laughter, dancing, and fun moments together. The Carlton Vintage Europe Hotel is a luxurious place located in the heart of Europe! It’s known for its elegant design and top-notch amenities. This five-star hotel is a unique blend of classic charm and modern sophistication, making it a popular choice for those looking for a wedding reception space!

As I look back on Eric & Kate’s wedding day in Switzerland, I can’t help but wish I was there with them again! From the stunning ceremony spot to the fun adventures we had, it was a trip of a lifetime. Being able to photograph such a special day and share in the happiness of these two was truly an honor!!!
